Getting out or staying in my comfort zone? Creating a healthy travel style.

Travel to me means something that is a bit out of your comfort zone – going the extra mile, adventure, exploring new places that you might not have thought of before and opening up your mind to new cultures. I love to travel and I was lucky enough to go and travel to some amazing places like Cuba, Morocco, South-Africa and Israel. Places that I heard goods stories about but was quite reluctant to visit at first, afraid of the unknown, a culture shock. I would have never thought of going to South-Africa (Africa really never appealed to me, while now I cannot wait to get back someday). Isreal scared me because all the crazy stories you hear about the wars on the news, but it was such a wonderful destination to spend a family holiday there – who would have known ;)

Utrecht Cityguide: My 7 Favourite Hotspot Restaurants

I’m currently living in Utrecht for almost 2 years, and over that time I’ve really enjoyed exploring the city, finding nice places to drink and eat. Especially for young people, there are plenty of places that not only serve food for reasonable prices, but have a great atmosphere and fun vibe, and of course have very tasty food! I thought it would be nice to share some of these places, in case you are visiting the city (which you definitely should!). I’m no culinary expert, so I wouldn’t state these are the absolute best restaurants there are, but these are sure my favourite hotspots (map included)!  Continue reading “Utrecht Cityguide: My 7 Favourite Hotspot Restaurants”

My top 5 highlights to see in beautiful Edinburgh

Right after Hogmanay (The Scottish New Year’s celebration), I visited Edinburgh and Glasgow with a friend. It was a trip I’ve been wanting to make for quite some years now. Since studying abroad in Ireland, I’ve fallen in love with Great Britain! From Ireland, I saw almost the whole country as you can read in my blog post: 12 tips for a great road trip through the wonderful country of Ireland. I also made a trip to Northern Ireland to visit Belfast and the amazing Giant’s Causeway. Furthermore, I’ve been to London a few times now for work and pleasure, but I never visited Scotland before. I assumed it would be similar to Ireland: Cozy pubs, beautiful landscapes and historic buildings. But I can definitely say: I liked Edinburgh better than any other city in Ireland!  Continue reading “My top 5 highlights to see in beautiful Edinburgh”

Which city is nicer to visit, Ghent or Bruges?

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a blog. I did make a lot of drafts but couldn’t find the time and effort to finish them. But actually, I think it’s a good sign, it shows I was busy being outside of home: Exploring and doing fun things! Also last weekend, when I went away for 4 days with my lovely mom. I went to the beautiful cities Ghent and Bruges (or Gent & Brugge in Dutch) in my neighbour country Belgium. Of course, I cannot wait to share my experience with you and recommend you the best city to visit (if you have to choose!). Because ultimately, I can already give away a spoiler: I would recommend you to visit both! Continue reading “Which city is nicer to visit, Ghent or Bruges?”

Times are tough, but we are tougher

So, this Monday I was supposed to fly to Malaga (Spain) for a holiday with my friend. We booked a Ryanair flight from Eindhoven and a lovely place to stay at an Airbnb place. I was looking forward to this trip for weeks: finally a break from daily working life and some relaxation in the sun. However, when trying to check-in the evening before departure, we got a notification that there was some trouble with our flight. Continue reading “Times are tough, but we are tougher”
